There's no payload, On this mountain of hope There's no free loans, Of true happiness There's no heroes, Standing on rooftops, If you must know, It only us. In Unparalleled times, No longer on parallel lines. Now that the waters passed under the bridge, There's no reflection telling how hard it's been, And a new perspective you're viewing from, Can see the colours drawn, on a Charcoal Dawn, It's people moving on, people are moving on. There's no big fold, For unravelling, There's no cheat code, For Unlocking the, Memories that rick roll, Thrusted to the spotlight, Looping like a ring tone, Calling only us. Imperfect at times, Leaving Bitter thoughts… behind. Chorus If your pride stole, Every good bit of you, Moving to the next goal, Never forget it. These are unparalleled times, Leave your bitter thoughts behind. Go watch the water flow under the bridge, Let your reflection tell how strong you've been, And the new perspective you're viewing from, Can see the colours drawn, A Charcoal Dawn..It's time for moving on, It's time for moving on.

I was a highwayman Along the coach roads I did ride With sword and pistol by my side Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade The bastards hung me in the spring of twenty-five But I am still alive I was a sailor I was borne upon the tide And with the sea I did abide I sailed a schooner round the Horn to Mexico I went aloft and furled the mainsail in a blow And when the yards broke off they said that I got killed But I am living still I was a dam builder Across the river deep and wide Where steel and water did collide A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below They buried me in that great tob that knows no sound But I am still around I'll always be around And around and around and around and around I fly a star ship Across the Universe divide And when I reach the other side I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can Perhaps I may become a highwayman again Or I may simply be a single drop of rain But I will remain And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again

A new born baby is free from fear or harm, The world is all ahead, you hold it in your arms, Joyful circles turning the sands of time, Seizing every day, bathing as you shine, You know you don’t seem to say it at the time, How the years are flying by, Gone in the blink of an eye, The years are flying by, Endless planning until you make the cradle sway, Protecting you from harm, balancing the weight, Soulful searching hoping that you’ve done enough, Glorious days are hard to give up, You know we don’t seem to say it at the time, How the years are flying by, Gone in the blink of an eye, The years are flying by, And I’ve learned how time can you put you in a poll position, And how your circumstances can offer you a second chance, But we don’t seem to say it at the time, How the years are flying by, Gone in the blink of an eye, The years are flying, the years are flying, the years are flying by.

Nobody Wins 03:18
Food on the table again, You’ve hunted days on end It's gonna last you a long time, There's meat on the hook, blood on the line.. Hang your game up high, Time makes it tender and tight The day is coming, but you don’t see, No meal is enough, or so it seems Even God won't forgive all your sins, In this cruel quarters where nobody wins, You get war when you want peace, It's a blood feast and, nobody wins, Talk to the wigs and the suits, They're like locusts, they'll eat us down to our boots. There's no ending where you don't scream, No meal is enough or so it seems. Even God won't forgive all your sins, In this cruel quarters where nobody wins, You get war when you want peace, It's a blood feast and, nobody wins, Oh lets hunt them down, fleece them one by one, kill their pride as they sing - nobody wins

about

In the challenging world of Folk Music, Seán Mathews, a young father grinding day to day, has consistently delivered new music over the past 5 years.

The song “Our Jack” from his last project, "Welcome to Ballsgrove," caught the ears of RTE Radio 1, earning a spot on their playlist and winning over many supporters in the Irish Folk Music community.

Deeply rooted in Drogheda, Ireland, his 2019 debut Album, "Dreaming is Allowed," includes the track "Days of our Prime," featured in a video by the St. Patrick's Day organizing committee in his birthplace. Moreover, his live streams during the pandemic cultivated a dedicated global audience.

Seán Mathew's latest release "The Charcoal Dawn Sessions" unfurls the exhilarating interplay between darkness and light, capturing a nuanced dance of hope and introspection. Every track functions as a vibrant vignette, intricately woven to vividly amplify the profound emotions of the song's subjects. Recorded live, devoid of drop-ins, splices, or edits, the EP candidly encapsulates the raw and unfiltered experience.

The Charcoal Dawn Sessions includes Seán’s rendition of Jimmy Webb's "The Highwayman," now a fixture in his live performances. Additionally, "The Years Are Flying By" celebrates his sister Jolene's first child. Jolene, in collaboration with her partner, Drogheda artist Rodney Thornton, crafted the album cover.
In a world driven by success, this release promises a compelling and sonorous live performance for Seán's audience.
